Ms. Alyssa's Update 1-4-18

Ms. Alyssa’s Weekly Update 1.4.18

Woah! It’s 2018... I hope everyone had a great New Year’s Eve and a wonderful break. I loved hearing stories this week of fun activities you all did over break. I enjoyed baking cookies and spending a lot of time with my family.

This Week:

  • We reviewed the color purple. “P-U-R-P-L-E, purple, purple. P-U-R-P-L-E, purple’s what that spells. Purple grapes on the vine. Purple kool-aid’s fine. P-U-R-P-L-E, purple’s what that spells.” Click on this link to hear the song.

  • We learned about squares. Ask your child to describe a square for you. Squares have four straight sides that are all the same length.

  • We discussed the number 5 and practiced recognizing it, writing it and counting it. “Down and around and give it a hat, that’s the number 5.”

  • We practiced recognizing, writing and producing the sounds for the letters Tt, Ii, Uu, and Cc.

  • The students have enjoyed sharing the stuffed animal pals. Everyone will get at least two turns before the school year is over. Be on the lookout for when your child brings the special bag home. Thanks for your help.

  • We focused on the season Spring and Summer (and wished it wasn’t so cold outside). We talked about the water cycle and made a cool book. I will share it via email soon!
