Ms. Alyssa's update 10-5-17

Ms. Alyssa’s Weekly Update 10.5.17

Thank you all for coming to conferences. It was great to talk about your child and give you more insight into how they are doing at school. Also, thank you to those who donated food/money for the conference meals. It is so nice to have dinner ready after a long day at work. I appreciate all that you do on a daily basis as parents! You all rock!!

This Week:

  • We learned about the color white and got to use white crayons to make secret messages.

  • We talked about hearts and stars. These shapes are pretty easy for preschoolers to identify, but it is always good to check in.

  • We discussed the number 6 and practiced recognizing it, writing it and counting to 6. When teaching the number 6 we really focus on how the circle is on the bottom so that when we learn the number 9 it won’t be as tricky.

  • We met Ollie Octopus (Letter Oo) and Queeny Quail (Letter Qq) and practiced the sounds they make and how to write them. The students loved the letter Oo and making its sound. The letter Qq is tends to be one of the harder letters for students to remember so we really focused on it.

  • We programmed a variety of robots including: cubelets, Bee-Bot, Code-A-Pillar, and Dash. Ask your child which was their favorite!

Next Week:

  • Color: Grey

  • Shape: Octagon and Hexagon

  • Number: Seven (7)

  • Letters: Gordo Gorilla (Gg) and Sammy Snake (Ss)
