Ms. Jess’s Update 10-30-17

October has flown by and winter will soon be upon us. We try to go outside every day when the temperature is warm enough. As the weather gets colder please send a warm coat, hats, gloves, and snow boots daily. This month we have learned the letters T, I, U, C, and O. We are continuing our focus on counting numerals 1-5. We will be working on our Pets unit until Thanksgiving Break. We have been learning about different kinds of pets, how to take care of them, and what a veterinarian is and does.

No School November 20-24

Curriculum
*Our big idea for math this month is counting.
Counting can be incorporated into many daily routines in the home such as snack, clothing when doing laundry, dishes when setting the table, etc.

*During our calendar time we emphasize colors and shapes. You can help your child at home by pointing out objects and describing their shape. For example, “Look at the door. It is a rectangle. Two long sides. Two short sides.” *Our letter focus for November will be Q, G, and S.

*Our number focus will continue to be 1-5.
*Our next STEM unit will be Roads/Transportation.
