Ms. Jess’s Update 11-1-18

Miss Jess, Miss Leah, & Miss Blair

October has flown by and winter will soon beupon us. We try to go outside every day when the temperature is warm enough. As the weather gets colder please send a warm coat, hats, gloves, and snow boots daily. This month we have learned the letters G, H, I, and J. We are continuing our focus on counting numerals 1-5. We will be working on our Friends and Family unit until Thanksgiving Break. We have been learning our friends’ names and how to share and take turns with our friends.

Curriculum

*Our big idea for math this month is counting. Counting can be incorporated into many daily routines in the home such as snack, clothing when doing laundry, dishes when setting the table, etc.

*During our calendar time we emphasize colors and shapes. You can help your child at home by pointing out objects and describing their shape. For example, “Look at the door. It is a rectangle. Two long sides. Two short sides.”

*Our letter focus for November will be L, M, and N. *Our number focus will continue to be 1-5. *Our next STEM unit will be Simple Machines.
