Ms. Marie’s Update 1-14-18

Dear Preschool Families and Friends,

Reminders!

There is no school tomorrow, Monday January 15th due to the MLK Holiday.  I hope you are all having an enjoyable extended weekend in honor of the work of Martin Luther King Jr!

Please return your Parent/Teacher conference forms to me this week.  Conferences are scheduled on a first-come/first-served basis.  There will be no conferences on Monday, February 5th due to a training I will be attending.  Conferences will be Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday February 6, 7, and 8th.  Please email or call me if you would like a translator.

This will be the last week of our Health and Exercise STEM unit.  We will create our design challenge exercise video.  Tuesday, the 16th, we will be going to the library.  Please return any library books if you have not done so already.

This week we will be covering the following areas:

Letters: Jj, Dd, Pp, Bb

Color: Brown

Shape: Cube

Number: 6

NOTE:  We are emphasizing lower case letters and how some are similar and some are different than the capital letter.  Lower case letters are used to assess letter identification in kindergarten and are an important kindergarten readiness skill.

The PATHS social emotional lessons this week will continue the emphasis on making choices and solving problems.  We have learned that we use our brain to help us make green (happy) choices instead of red (sad) choices.  Doing Turtle when we are not sure how to solve a problem is always a green choice and helps us make green choices.

The Starpower Reward party will be a board game party on January 18th.  We still have more Starpower stickers to earn before we can attend.  Please remind your children to use Turtle to help them make green choices at home and at school!

Donations:

We would appreciate donations of paper towels, 5 oz. Dixie cups, and Fine Point Black Dry erase markers (only black dry erase markers wipe off easily from our white boards)
