Ms. Marie’s Update 12/11/18
Dear Preschool Families and Friends,
The middle of December is upon us and we are well into our STEM Music unit! The children have been learning all about sounds including the vibrations our ears hear, tapping rhythm sticks fast and slow and seeing how different levels of water in glasses make higher or lower sounds. We are now moving into learning about musical instruments and making music.
You can help your child’s development by singing fun songs with them that rhyme. Rhyming is an important, age-appropriate-reading skill. You can point out the words that rhyme in songs as well as stories, and make it a game by suggesting other words that rhyme (even if they are nonsense words). Some children can generate rhyming words on their own if you ask them.
Please don’t forget to do the monthly activity page as well as the homework pages. If your child is struggling to do the homework with your help, please contact me for suggestions. We want this to be an enjoyable experience for you and your child. You can remind children that they earn prizes for turning in 5 completed homework pages and the monthly activity page!
Family Engagement Gathering
We will be having a Family Engagement gathering on December 20th.
AM Class 10:30am to 11:10pm
PM Class: 2:25pm – 3:05pm
Please join us to share in activities and snacks if you are able to attend. We will be providing a snack donation sign-up shortly. Please contribute donations if you are able. If not, that is fine.
Important Notes:
There are still families that need to return their child’s Individual Learning Plan. This is a required document, so please return them this week. If you have any questions or concerns please contact me.
I will be out for a meeting Wednesday, December 12th from 8:30-9:30am. There will be a substitute.
