Ms. Marie & Ms. Toni and Ms. Stacey’s News

Dear Preschool Families:

*** Reminder – No school Monday, April 29th. ***

Also,  For the safety of your children, thank you for keeping your children with you on the sidewalk during drop off and pickup.

We want to wish the best to Ms. Jessica McClellan-Bianco who is now helping in another classroom at Spark! We would like to welcome Ms. Stacey Parks to our classroom team!  Ms. Stacey comes to us with several years of experience as a paraeducator in our district, and as a former preschool teacher.

It is almost May!  Hopefully by the end of the week, the weather will commit to spring.  It was wonderful to see some of our families at the Spring Carnival!  Please join us next year if you missed this fun, family event.

We are in the middle of our Simple Machines Stem Unit.  The children have been learning about how simple machines help us and the following types of machines: levers, pulleys and inclined planes.  Next, we will be studying wedges and wheels/axles.  See how many simple machines your child can point out at home and in the community.  Our Design Challenge will be associated with the book, Stuck!By Oliver Jeffries.  The children will be using a simple machine to help solve the problem of getting items out of the tree.  After our Simple Machines Stem Unit, there will be no more homework.  Thank you so much for supporting school learning concepts at home.  Please continue to interactively read to your children and look for activity ideas we will be sending home at the end of the month.

Individual Learning Plans (ILP) will be sent home this month based on our spring assessment results through the Teaching Strategies Gold Assessment system.  The spring ILPs do not need to be returned to Spark!  For children who are going onto Kindergarten, we will also be sending information home about the Phonological Assessment Literacy Screening (PALS) results.

Our last day of school is Thursday, May 23rd. There will not be a graduation ceremony, but we will be having a Year-end party to celebrate.  Family and friends are welcome!  The parties will be Thursday, May 23rd.
