Ms. Marie & Ms. Julie’s Monthly News

Dear Preschool Families:

It’s hard to believe it’s already May and the final month of school. The year has flown by!  There will be no more homework in the month of May.  Thank you so much for supporting school learning concepts at home.  Please continue to interactively read to your children.   Today we heard from the High Plains Library District.  Please check out the following website to see about the summer reading program and upcoming events.  http://www.mylibrary.us/sra/

We are in the middle of our Robotics Stem Unit.  The children are familiar with robots.  However, they are discovering that robots learn just like they do – except in different ways.   The students are intrigued with “programming” (giving directions) to our school learning robots: Bee Bot and Code-a-pillar.  We will experiment more with DASH next week.  Our Design Challenge will be programming a robot to solve a problem.

We will be finishing up our Teaching Strategies GOLD assessment this week.  Individual Learning Plans will be sent home in the next two weeks.   For children who are going onto Kindergarten, we will also be sending information home about the Phonological Assessment Literacy Screening (PALS) results.

Our last day of school is Thursday, May 24th. There will not be a graduation ceremony, but we will be having a year-end party to celebrate.  Family and friends are welcome!  Look for more information to come.
