Ms. Nicky’s Update 12-5-18

Ms. Nicky and Ms. Julie’s News

Can you believe the year is almost over?!  Time is going so fast! We learned a lot during our Music Unit and got to do some really fun things!  Hopefully, your child shared some of the things they learned with you. We are now studying the Life Cycle of Plants and Insects.  We are trying to grow an Amaryllis in class and are watching Daisies’ petals change colors as they “drink” different colors of water.   In the next couple of weeks, we will also talk about the life cycle of different insects and compare how they are the same and different.

Home School Connections

We have finished our first round of the alphabet!  Thank you for your diligence with doing the homework with your child.  They are doing a great job with learning their letters and letter sounds!   I will start differentiating the homework more soon to better meet the needs of everyone.  Please continue reading with your child and asking questions about what you are reading.

Kindergarten Registration

Just a reminder that Kindergarten registration starts December 3.  If you are hoping for full-day or a morning class, make sure to register early as those classes usually fill up fast!

Book and PJ Drive

This year we are hosting a book and PJ drive for our students in need.  This is instead of hosting our annual toy drive. We are hoping to serve 30 students.  If you are able to donate pajamas or books, you can either bring them to the front office or you can give them to me and I will make sure they get to the right place.  The last day to donate is December 14. Thank you for your help with this!

Important Dates

December 6:  PTO Meeting (6:00-7:30 p.m.)

December 13:  PJ Day-Bring $1 and wear your PJs to school

December 14:  Book and PJ Drive Ends

December 20:  Winter Celebration at 2:15

December 21-January 6:  WINTER BREAK–NO SCHOOL

Winter Celebration

We will be having a Winter Celebration on December 20.   Students should come at their regular class time in the morning, and we will start the celebration at 2:15.  We will do a craft or two and have a fun snack. I will send out requests for donations for the snack through Sign-Up Genius shortly.  I hope you will all be able to make it!

Donations

We are in need of rolls of paper towels and Expo Black Fine Point dry erase markers for our writing lessons.  We need Fine Point because it’s easier for helping teach proper writing grip, and Black because then nobody is upset because their friend got the color they wanted 🙂  Thank you for your help!
