Ms. Sarah's Update 10-1-18

Hello Families,
It has been great meeting with you during conferences and sharing information about your
children’s experiences here at school as well as hearing about their experiences at home with
family. We have been wrapping up our Life Cycle unit this week with our focus on pumpkins.
The pumpkin life cycle has been explored, we have spent time working on hammering pegs into our pumpkins, counting pumpkins, reading “Five Little Pumpkins” and collaging on our mini pumpkins.
This week we had a visitor from Healthy Learning Paths (Ms. Mercedes) and learned a lot about healthy foods and how they help our brains and bodies grow. Your children all helped cut up the various vegetables and fruits we discussed (with plastic butter knives), and we had a delightful
community style feast of healthy and delicious fruits and vegetables here in our classroom.
Our focus letters this week were “O” and “Q”, our focus shapes were the star and the heart, and “6” was our focus number.
This next week we begin our Family and Friends Unit and will be sending home a letter with more details. During this unit (as well as any other time) we want to provide opportunities for your children (and you if you are interested) to share activities, food, languages, objects, and/or anything else from home that is important to your family, with our class. Let me know if you have something in mind that you would like to share with us all. We will celebrate all kinds of families, and discuss what makes our families so very special to us.
Thank you all for your dedicated investment in your child’s preschool experience. We so appreciate everything you do to support this incredible stage of your child’s educational journey and we are so grateful we get to be a part of it. As always, please let me know if you have any questions, concerns, or comments!
Many Thanks,
Ms. Sarah, Ms. Michelle, and Ms. Val
