Ms. Tori’s update 11-5-17

Hello Preschool Families!!

We hope that you are enjoying the nice fall weather and the extra hour of sleep that we received.

A Week in Review:

  •     We have been learning about the season of winter. As we were walking to the playground, we talked about the birds that were already flying south as well as what tree do in the winter. We read books about what animals, plants and people do in the winter time.
  •   We talked about the number ten, 10. How do we write ten, 10? Can we find 10 objects?
  • We worked closely with the letter Rr and Kk. We created them with the wood pieces. We also looked at words that start Rr and Kk.
  •  We talked about the color, white. We looked who was wearing the color and where we could find it in our classroom and outside. Here is the song that we sang about the color white.

WHITE

(Tune: LITTLE BROWN JUG)

W-H-I-T-E

THAT SPELLS WHITE, SING WITH ME

MILK IS WHITE, AND SO IS GLUE

GHOSTS ARE WHITE

AND THEY SAY BOO!

W-H-I-T-E

THAT SPELLS WHITE, SING WITH ME

THE CLOUDS ABOVE, THE SNOW BELOW

SANTA’S BEARD, HO, HO, HO!

PARENTING CLASS SCHEDULE CHANGES: We had two parents show up to our 3rd parenting class on Thursday, Oct 19th.  Upon reflection, figured we had low turn out due to no school on Friday, Oct 20th.  Our facilitator, Cheryl Hamilton, the Family Whisper, agreed to reschedule the session, so we have scheduled the last two classes for November on:

·      Nov 9, Thurs, 6:30 – 7:45 pm – class 3 of 4

·       Nov 15, Wed, 6:30 – 7:45 pm – class 4 of 4

As a reminder, the Parenting Class is FREE to all Spark enrolled families.  (sponsored by Spark! Discovery Preschool).   Childcare is also FREE (sponsored by the PTO)!

Community Resources:  We have information to connect families with local agencies regarding mental health, child nutrition, physical fitness, food bank, child find, medical and dental resources, in several locations:

1) In a notebook in the front office,

2) In our parent flyer stand at the front entrance

3) On our school website at http://sdpk.svvsd.org/community-resources.

4) The black table at the front of the school also has activity packets for parents to take in English and Spanish (when possible)

Please let me know if you have any questions.
