TRANSITIONING TO KINDERGARTEN:

An informational letter was sent home about transitioning to kindergarten for the 2018 -2019 school year.  Additionally, a video was sent to all parents, via email, on Friday, November 17, to discuss the kindergarten enrollment window, which is from December 1, 2017 through January 15, 2018.  St. Vrain Valley School District offers the following Kindergarten program configurations at various schools:

Canned Food Drive Update:

We wanted to send a quick update to the November canned-food drive.  We were able to donate about 260 pounds of food to the Carbon Valley Help Center!  Thank you to the families, staff, and children who participated in this annual event. 

Safe Touch Training for Staff With the Colorado Department of Public Safety

In November, our staff was trained by Margaret Ochoa, Child Sexual Abuse Specialist with the Colorado Department of Public Safety, School Safety Resource Center.  During this training, Ms.

Winter Celebrations – Dec. 14 and 15:

Individual classrooms will be hosting classroom parties on Thursday and Friday, December 14 – 15, 2017, using the schedule below.  Each class will conduct their own celebration – contact the teacher for more details.

Inclement Weather Information for Spark Families

We would like to share important inclement weather information so that your family can be prepared in the event severe weather, such as a snow-day, results in the closure or delay of our school. 

School Cancelation at Spark! Discovery Preschool: When forecasts are definitive, the school district will close or delay school with as much advance notice as possible, and we will make every effort to communicate with you no later than 5:30 a.m. on the school day in question.  

Spark! Discovery Preschool Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO)—Grant Recipients

Ever wonder where the PTO funds go that were raised during our fall fundraiser?  Here’s one project those funds support, totaling about $1350. Thank you to our PTO for their support for these great projects and ideas!

·      Alyssa Rehder:  Ms. Alyssa, preschool teacher, wrote a grant for $150 called “Listen to Me Read” to increase listening center books on CD which align with STEM units

School Accountability Committee Update for December 2017

Spark! Discovery Preschool hosts a School Accountability Committee, and the primary purpose is to monitor and support the development of children. The team is guided by St. Vrain Valley Schools Board of Education policies, includes a diverse membership:
