Happy Fall to all the Families!
Welcome officially to FALL! (Even though it is starting to feel like winter) The first week of October we will be learning all about the State of Colorado. The children will learn what our state flag looks like, what our state flower is and of course what our state dinosaur is. We will also cover Colorado’s state history. The 2nd week of October we will move into Columbus Day and all about Christopher Columbus. Who is Christopher Columbus and what did he do? The children will design their own boat and see if it will stay above water. In the 3rd week of the month we will learn all about farms. What animals are on a farm? What can we get from those animals to use for us? What equipment do farmers use in the field? The last two weeks of October we will discuss pumpkins, bats, and Halloween. We will look at the life cycle of a pumpkin and explore what the inside looks like. The children will be learning about our secondary colors of purple, orange and green. We are also discussing the letters Kk, Ll, Mm, Nn, Oo, Pp, Qq, Rr, Ss and Tt. They will work on how to write the letters and about the sounds of the letters. They will be learning about Diamonds, Stars, Ovals and Hearts.
Some Important Information:
· We have new cubbies. Please keep the space in mind when sending nap items to school. A small blanket that will fit in their cubby would be preferred. We provide blue sheets to each child and wash them weekly. Please keep the sheets in the classroom in the container above their cubby, it is one less thing for you to worry about. You may leave their blanket and extra clothes on the bottom of their cubby.
· If your child is needing hot lunch please fill out a lunch calendar circling the days you would like them to have hot lunch and return it to wraparound for the month. If it is in the morning before please let one of the staff members know at drop off. If your child gets dropped off in preschool but will be with us at lunch please let us know ahead of time. We have to have lunch count in by 8:30 am every day.
· Please provide a jacket now that the weather is changing. Also please change out extra clothes that your child may have here at school with warmer clothes.
· We ask that the children do not bring toys from home. We can’t guarantee that another child will take a liking to their toy and “borrow it”.
· Our hours are 7:00 am to 5:30 pm. Please pickup before 5:30pm and give yourself extra time if needed to talk to staff about your child’s day. Our Staff need to leave by 5:30pm every day. Please call ahead if you know you will be late.
We will be celebrating Halloween here in Pre-K Childcare on Tuesday October 30th. We are asking for donations for our special snack. All snacks must be store bought with an ingredient label. We do have kiddos that have food allergies. We will put out a sign-up sheet in Wrap A. We will have a fun snack at 3:15 pm and have games afterwards. The children can bring their costumes and dress up during the afternoon if they would like to.
