Hi Families! We have had such a great time with our unit on our bodies, health, exercise, and nutrition. Hopefully, your child has come home and shared some of the information they learned with you! This is my favorite unit to do because there are so many fun hands-on activities to help them learn.
Our next STEM unit will be “Pets”. If you have a pet at home and are able to send in a picture of it for your child to share, please bring it in by December 3.
Home-School Connections
We have almost made it through the alphabet for the first time, practicing the letters, letter-sounds, and writing the letters. Thank you so much for your diligence with working on the letter-writing worksheets each week with your child! Once we get all the way through the alphabet the first time, we will start sending a different type of homework home. I’ll share more once we get to that point.
This month’s Big Idea in Math is Number Operations. Some ideas for you to work on this concept at home are:
Add and Subtract with Snack Math – http://kidsactivitiesblog.com/4772/math-snacks
-Sing songs that involve changing situations, like “Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed”. After each verse, ask, “How many monkeys now?’
STEM Profile for December: Cooperative
“I work with others and am willing to lead or follow as needed.”
Books to encourage cooperation:
Stone Soup by Marcia Brown
Swimmy by Leo Linny
We Need Your Help! Please work with your child at home to help him or her learn how to put on their winter gear. It would be great if everyone were able to put on their own gloves and coat AND be able to zip it by the beginning of 2016.
