Ms. Tori’s Update 2-26-17

Hello Preschool Families!!

We hope that you are enjoying your weekend. This week went by really fast. We had a great deal of fun. On Friday, Ms. Tessa and I were really busy with moving and arranging our new room for Monday. We are pretty excited to be in this new room and can’t wait to share it with your child.

A Week in Review:

We did our Design Challenge. We read the story Falling for Rapunzel by Leah Wilcox. We looked at the problems that Rapunzel had in the book like not being able to hear the prince and giving him the wrong things. In groups, we designed and built a simple machine that could help fix that problem.

·      We did color mixing. We took the colors, blue and red and mixed them together to get purple.

·      We talked about the number two. How do we write 2? Can we find 2 objects?  Is there a poem to remember how to write the number 2?

·      We talked about the Heart. How do we draw a heart? How many sides and points does a heart have? We looked for things that were of a heart in our classroom, gym and outside.

·        We worked on the Letters, Mm, Nn, Ww, Xx. We practiced writing them, building them with wood and creating them with play dough. We also talked about different words that start with those letters.

What to Expect:

  •  Letters: Yy, Zz
  •  The number: Three, 3
  • The color: Color Mixing: Blue and Yellow
  •   The Shape: Cube
  •   Sight word: and

❄Please remember that the weather is changing for the colder side to make sure that your child is properly dressed for being outside and that all items are labeled with their name. Please also check the spare clothes in your child’s backpack to make sure that they are for the right weather. Your child will need to have winter boots to be able to play on the playground if there is snow. We will be going outside unless it is below 20°F or unsafe weather conditions.
