Happy Fall! It has been a busy month for us. We have started working on letteridentification, formation, and the sounds that letters make. We have also talkedabout numbers, and have been working a lot on counting objects and numbersense-having a sense of what numbers really mean. We are well into our STEM uniton Transportation. We have talked about air transportation, water transportation, and land transportation. The students have loved the Dramatic Play area, where wehave had an airplane and airport, and an auto shop and road, complete with a carand traffic signs that talk. Many, many thanks to Noah’s family for bringing theawesome semi-truck for the students in the A.M. class to see! It was a big hit!The afternoon class also enjoyed my husband bringing a lift truck, and seeing himgo high into the air. Just a forewarning-I think that might be added to somestudents’ Christmas wish list. :)We have started going to the library and, hopefully, the students have all sharedthe book they chose with you. We will visit the library the second and fourthWednesday of every month, so please have your child return their book at thattime so they are able to choose a new one.STEM Profile of the Month: Risk-Taker“I have the courage to try new things. I’m not afraid to give it a try. I try to solveproblems in a lot of new ways.”Some books to encourage being a Risk-Taker:Ish, by Peter H. ReynoldsCourage, by Bernard Waber Parent-Teacher ConferencesFall conferences are October 2-4. Our GOLD assessments will not yet becompleted, but I will be sharing the progress I have seen so far. I look forward toseeing all of you!Home-School ConnectionsThank you for working with your child on their letter-writing homework! We havebeen practicing our letter-writing skills a lot at school so, hopefully, the studentsare able to do the work at home. As I’m sure you’ve probably noticed, thelowercase letters are much harder for the students to write. Don’t worry if theydon’t seem to be “getting it”. With continued practice, they will continue toimprove!Dressing for the weatherNow that the weather is getting colder, please make sure your child brings a coateach day. Please also work with your child at home to help them becomeindependent at putting their coat on and zipping or buttoning it. This will saveus a huge amount of time when we are trying to get outside to recess, or whengetting ready to head home at the end of the day.Donation RequestWe are in need of Expo Black Fine Point dry erase markers for our writinglessons. If you are able to donate some, it would be greatly appreciated! We needFine Point because it’s easier for helping teach proper writing grip, and Blackbecause then nobody is upset because their friend got the color they wanted :)Important DatesOctober 2-4: Parent-Teacher ConferencesOctober 5: PBIS Reward-Bubble Party in the gymOctober 6: Believe Fundraiser ends (All packets due by 4 pm)October 10: Hearing and Vision ScreeningsOctober 11-12: Dress like a Superhero-bring $1 to wear a Superhero costume allday, sponsored by PTO (no weapons or masks)October 16: NO SCHOOLOctober 19: FREE Love and Logic Parenting class (6:30 pm – 7:45 pm)October 27: Trick or Treat Street (4:30 pm-6:00 pm)Happy Birthday!October 10-WillowOctober 27-Christopher
