A peek at our week:
We have been having a lot of fun with our nursery rhyme theme. This week we have been doing Row, Row, Row, Your Boat, and Jack and Jill. These repetitive nursery rhymes are a great way to practice rhyming, which we have been incorporating into all aspects of the classroom.
This week we did a science experiment on Monday. We wrapped up green bean plant seeds in a wet paper towel, and hung the seeds in a plastic bag high up in our classroom window, where they will get plenty of sunlight. We discussed what a hypothesis is, and we all made our educational guesses about what might happen to the seeds. Hopefully, they will sprout, and we can care for them all school year. On Tuesday, we did our music and movement with bean bags. This is always a favorite time of the week for our students. Wednesday, was an opportunity to practice some hand writing and drawing to convey thoughts and meaning. On Thursday’s we always do out PATHS social-emotional lesson. The students love the puppets we use, and this is a great time to talk about and identify feelings. Additionally, we use this as a time to practice giving compliments to our peers.
Things have been coming along nicely with our preschool students, and we have seen a lot of growth thus far this school year. I am looking forward to discussing your children’s growth at conferences.
