Mr. Ben’s Update 12-6-19

Hello families, I hope you had a great Thanksgiving break full of gratitude, family time, and plenty of food. I can’t believe its already December and our preschool studentshave jumped right back into the routine of things. This week we made winter drawing and practiced writing our name. On Tuesday, we participated in music and movement with rhythm sticks. Wednesday, we compared and measured different items with unifex cubes. This embedded a lot of early match skills including counting, 1-1 correspondence, comparing and measuring, and makingpatterns. Additionally, this week we have been doing middle of the year math assessments, where I have noticed quite a bit of growth in our students, and anobstacle course. Today, we did our social emotional curriculum, the students always love interacting with the puppets at this time. Next week will be a traditional week in the classroom, and the following week we will incorporate reading the Gingerbread man, and making our own Gingerbread mancookies. Kindergarten registration starts on December 2nd. If your child will be 5 years old by October 1st, 2020, it is time to register your child for kindergarten. More information is available at https://www.svvsd.org/about/departments/early-childhood/kindergarten Additionally, if you are planning on returning to Spark for another year of high quality preschool for the 2020-2021 school year, open enrollment begins January 6th and runs to January 17th Upcoming Events• December 2nd-19th Kindergarten enrollment period for SVVSD for the 2020-2021 school year.• December 6th- January24th- open enrollment for returning Spark! Students.• December 12th pajama day (PTO fundraiser with a suggested $1 donation)• December 2nd- December 19th- Pajama/book drive. The Spark community is hoping to raise pajamas and books for individuals at Spark who are in need.• December 20th- January 5th- Winter break. Preschool and childcare are not in session
