Dear Families,
Important reminder: Tomorrow is class picture day!
It is so nice to have nice weather as we had too many inside recess days this last month! We are finishing up our nursery rhymes unit this week with a focus on our Humpty Dumpty STEM challenge to drop Humpty Dumpty (a hard boiled egg) without him cracking. Today we completed our design challenge and ⅚ groups kept Humpty Dumpty from cracking using bubble wrap, cotton, pom poms, etc.
I will be sending home nursery rhyme books with all the rhymes we have focused on during the past 5 weeks next week. For older students practice pointing to words left to right and top to bottom “reading” the rhymes by memory. You can also talk about rhyming words and try to make up silly rhymes like “Humpty, Dumpty, Frumpty, Sumpty.” For younger children say the rhymes together and pause for them to fill in missing rhyming words.
Our Dr. Seuss week is coming up in two weeks and look for the flyer in Thursday folders listing all of our special dress up days to celebrate. I always enjoy celebrating Dr. Seuss’s birthday through silly activities and a focus on rhyming words. It should be a fun week before spring break!
Have a fabulous weekend!
Ms. Amy, Ms. Catalina (Cathy), and Ms. Wanda
