Our preschool classes have gotten off to a very busy and exciting start. We’ve been learning how to meet and make new friends and learning letters and so much more.
Both classes earned a PBIS reward of a parachute party last week. This was a big success! Now we are working to earn a Bubble Party in early October. You can help by reminding your child to show off their STAR behaviors: Stay safe, use Teamwork, Act responsibly, and Respect self and others.
Be sure to ask your child about Whole School Movement. We just did this Monday and the children were having lots of fun stretching and dancing with their friends.
By far the most exciting news for the afternoon class and myself is that Ms. Connie has joined our class! She will be here daily to help me teach your children. Welcome!
What we’ve been learning:
STEM: This is our first week of exploring our Families and Friends unit. These first two weeks we are focusing on families by looking at who is in our family, what we do with our family, and on ways families are alike and different.
Literacy: We have learned about the sounds the letters E, F, H, and L make and how to write these letters. This week’s focus is on T and I. We are using the signals from Zoophonics to help students connect the sound of the letter with its shape and name.
Social Emotional: We began by looking at how to behave in class and then moved on to how to make friends and feelings like happy and sad. This week we are focusing on the feelings of anger and fear.
Math: We practice basic math skills daily with activities like counting students. Next week we will focus on sorting and classifying objects, an important first math step. Please send in:
1. Your All About My Family bag. We will be discussing them as early as Thursday if everyone has theirs in.
2. Any Orientations Forms you still have.
