Dear Parents and Guardians: In the spring of the 2018-2019 school year, we sent a school-wide parent/family survey home to gain feedback from our community about various topics related to our programming. We’d like to accomplish three things in this communication today:

IMPROVEMENT ACTIONS: Here’s information regarding improvement actions for this school year, as decided by our School Accountability Committee and our Design / Leadership team:
IMPROVEMENT area #1: TRANSITIONS: “I receive adequate information from my child’s teacher about transitioning from home to preschool, from preschool to kindergarten, etc.”
In our efforts to improve in the area of TRANSITIONS, we will:
- Communicate in multiple formats and multiple months in a row about the transition to kindergarten through school and teacher newsletters, print materials, social media, and video.
- Continue to host transition and orientation sessions with new families as they enroll into preschool
IMPROVEMENT area #2A and 2B: 2A: Parent/Family Knowledge regarding STEM: “As a parent I would rate my knowledge of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Programming as …” 2B. Parent/Family Knowledge regarding curricular resources used at Spark: “I have adequate understanding of various curricular programs my child’s teacher uses at schools (phonics, social-emotional, handwriting, STEM, etc.).”
In our efforts to increase awareness and understanding of our STEM programming, as well as parent/family knowledge about curricular programming we will….
- Create short video clips related to STEM and curricular programming to share with our parents in order to increase their awareness and understanding of the learning happening in preschool.
THE 2019-2020 school year Survey: There are two important things to note about this year’s survey. Later in the school year we will be sending out the 2019-2020 Spark! family/parent survey via email. This electronic survey is an important part of our continuous improvement process, and we will appreciate your time and effort in completing and returning it. This parent/family input helps the school to document our progress, continue to improve the quality of our school’s programming, and make changes as a result of new information.
With respect — Paige Gordon, Principal
