Dear Families,
I hope you are all doing well after our week off in November as we get back into the flow of school for the next couple of weeks. I want to share a few reminders and other pieces of information. First, please make sure your children have weather appropriate clothing for school. We go outside unless it is below 20 or raining during our outside time. Therefore, it is important for your children to be prepared with mittens (much easier for this age to get on than gloves) and hats to stay warm. Please write names on hats and jackets, because your children easily mix them up and take each others home and we want your things to get back to you. Second, a lot of children have been bringing snacks in ziplocs. Licensing does not allow ziplocs due to suffocation hazards in the classroom. Please use a plastic container or foil to wrap snacks if you are sending them.
Kindergarten enrollment began last week, so please get your child signed up if he or she is eligible for the next school year. We want to help you get the school of your choice! Contact me if you have any questions or concerns about kindergarten. Re-enrollment for preschool next year is coming soon, so please be watching for how to sign your child up for next year if they will not be age ready for kindergarten next year.
We started our transportation STEM unit last week. We talked about what transportation is and this week we are focusing on air transportation. In January we will do water and land transportation specifically.
Next week we will read the story of the gingerbread man and decorate cookies our last day before winter break. This is a great story for your children to retell that is a lot of fun!
Thursday this week is pajama day so bring your $1 to donate to the PTO and come in your winter pjs!
The PJ and book drive continues through December 17th if you want to donate!
By the end of this week we will have introduced every letter of the alphabet through Z, so please be practicing letters and sounds with your children at home, particularly if they will be going to kindergarten next year. We have a few students going to kindergarten who are doing basically every letter and sound already, so it appears fundations is a good way to teach letters and sounds!
Have a wonderful holiday season!
Ms. Amy, Ms. Catalina (Cathy), and Ms. Wanda
