Health Services

The Spark! Discovery Preschool Health Services team is here to support the needs of your student. In partnership with St. Vrain’s Health Services Department, we strives to remove barriers due to health concerns to encourage educational engagement by providing high quality nursing and health services to support and advocate for student health needs in close collaboration with families, staff and the community. Our health clerk is Alicia Sheahan-Hall, and she works in tandem with our SVVSD nurse, Wendi Stewart.

Health Requirements for Spark! Discovery Preschool Students

Colorado law requires children in school to have an immunization record on file and to have the required immunizations. Make sure your child has the required immunizations before school starts. Follow this link for a list of immunization requirements from the Colorado Department of Public Health

Health Tips

Cold and flu viruses can spread easily, especially as the weather gets colder and students spend more time indoors. Give your child a good foundation for optimal health by modeling and encouraging these practices in your household:

  • Get a good night’s sleep, especially on school nights.
  • Eat nutritious food.
  • Drink water.
  • Get plenty of exercise and fresh air. As long as the outside temperature is above freezing, bundle up and go outside anyway.
  • Wash hands often with soap and water.
  • Use tissues for runny noses and wash hands afterward.
  • Cough in your sleeve or shirt rather than in your hands.

Medication Policy

All medications must be kept in the health office. These include:

  • Over-the-counter medicines, such as acetaminophen, ibuprofen, and cough syrup.
  • Prescription medicines.
  • Natural and holistic supplements.
  • Vitamins.
