Ms. Tori’s Update 2-9-17

Hello Preschool Families!!

We hope that you are enjoying your weekend.

A Week in Review::

·      We talked about Levers and Pulleys. We looked at how these simple machines can make work easier to do. We used pulleys to help us lift animals and blocks in the block area.

·      We did the color, Black. We looked for the Black in our classroom and outside.

·      Talked about the number ten. How do we write 10? Can we find 10 objects?  Is there a poem to remember how to write the number 10?

·      We talked about the Hexagon. How do we draw a hexagon? How many sides and points does a hexagon have? We looked for things that were of a hexagon in our classroom, gym and outside.

·        We worked on the Letters, Jj, Dd, Pp, Bb. We practiced writing them, building them with wood and creating them with play dough. We also talked about different words that start with those letters.

·      We enjoyed exploring simple machines in the Makerspace.

What to Expect:

  •  Monday, Feb. 13th: Library
  •  Letters: Rr, Kk, Aa, Vv

We will be having a Valentine’s Day Party on Tuesday, February 14th, 2017 at 10:20am to 11:10am. If you would like to send in Valentines cards, we ask that they say To: My Friend, From: Your Child’s Name. This will make it easier for your child to distribute. You are welcome to come and enjoy the fun.

Thank you for your support! Working with your preschooler at home really makes a difference.

Important Dates:

·      Feb. 14th: Valentine’s Day Celebrations, 10:20-11:10am

·      Feb. 20th: No School: President’s Day

·      Feb 28th – Mar 1st: Spring Class Picture Days

Please remember that the weather is changing for the colder side to make sure that your child is properly dressed for being outside and that all items are labeled with their name. Please also check the spare clothes in your child’s backpack to make sure that they are for the right weather. Your child will need to have winter boots to be able to play on the playground if there is snow. We will be going outside unless it is below 20°F or unsafe weather conditions.
