Hello Preschool Families!!
We hope that you are enjoying the beautiful weather.
A Week in Review:
- We started our Pets Unit. We talked about different types of pets. We looked at the pictures that were sent in of our pets. We talked about what animals would be good as pets and which ones would not.
- We talked about the number two, 2. How do we write 2? Can we find 2 objects? Is there a poem to remember how to write the number 2?
- We worked closely with the letter Ll and Hh. We created them with the wood pieces as well as looked at words that start Ll and Hh.
- We talked about the color Yellow. We looked who was wearing the color and where we could find it in our classroom and outside. We sang this song about the color Yellow:
(IF YOU’RE HAPPY AND YOU KNOW IT)
Y-E-L-L-O-W SPELLS YELLOW.
Y-E-L-L-O-W SPELLS YELLOW.
LIKE THE EARLY MORNING SUN
WHEN THE DAY HAS JUST BEGUN.
Y-E-L-L-O-W SPELLS YELLOW.
DAFFODILS AND BABY DUCKS ARE YELLOW.
LEMONADE AND SCRAMBLED EGGS ARE YELLOW.
I LIKE THE SMILEY FACE THAT’S YELLOW.
HE IS SUCH A HAPPY FELLOW.
Y-E-L-L-O-W SPELLS YELLOW.

Miners Day
Come participate in the Miner’s Day Parade on Saturday, September 16th, 2017, This community event is a terrific tradition and great way for us to pull together to show some school spirit in our community! Spark! Children, staff, and parents are invited to join us in dressing up in patriotic gear! Think: red, white and blue clothes. Think: stars and stripes! Think Statue of Liberty hat!
We will order some American flags for people to use and wave. We will also decorate a truck and trailer in patriotic cuteness. Thank you Jordan Family! Some children, but not all children, will be able to ride on the trailer due to space. Those not able to ride of the float can walk the route, alongside the float. If you need to bring a wagon/ stroller to pull or push children along the parade route, that would be great too. We’ll dress up the wagon or stroller with some red/white/blue before taking off in the parade.
Parents and Staff will need to park where they can at around 9:30am, and then locate the Spark team at the parade staging area on Tipple Parkway, near Aspen Drive in Frederick. The parade will begin promptly at 10 a.m. If your family chooses to participate wither by walking, wagon ride, or float riding, we will need to have a family waiver signed by the morning of the parade.

Did you know?
· Mathematics Knowledge & Skills describe children’s abilities to understand numbers, quantity, and the relationships between them. Also important to this domain is a basic understanding of shapes, the position of shapes in space, patterns, data, and measurement.
· Many skills in early mathematics require children to make generalizations and think abstractly, which builds cognitive skills that support a wide array of early learning and are associated with positive outcomes.
· Early mathematics skills are the strongest predictors of later academic performance (Duncan, 2007, UC Irvine)
