Hello Preschool Families!!  

We hope that you are enjoying your weekend. I wanted to thank everyone for attending Parent-Teacher Conferences this week. It was great getting to meet and talk with you about your child. I have also attached the snack calendar for October.

A Week in Review:

·      We started working on our design challenge. The design challenge for this unit was the children had a to design and create a pet carrier that would hold a five pound pet and their things in order to get them home from the shelter. We will be continuing this more this week as not everyone has had a chance to build their carriers.

·      We talked about the number six, 6. How do we write 6? Can we find 6 objects?

·      We worked closely with the letter Oo and Qq. We created them with the wood pieces. We also looked at words that start Oo and Qq.

·      We created different types of triangles. How do we make a triangle? How many sides and points does a square have? We also found things that were in the shape of a triangle.

·     We talked about the color, Pink. We looked who was wearing the color and where we could find it in our classroom and outside. We sang this song about the color Pink:

·       Firefighters are coming to present to the students on eitherTuesday, 10/10 or Wednesday, 10/11

·       Super Hero Days on Wednesday, 10/11 and Thursday, 10/12

·       Letters: Gg, Ss

·       The number: Seven, 7

·       The color: Brown

·       ­  Pets STEM Unit: Finishing Design Challenge: How might we design and pet carrier so that it carries a 5lb animal and it’s things in order to get the per home from the shelter?

·      Oct. 16^th: No School: Teacher COMP DAY for conferences

·      Oct. 27^th: Trick or Treat Street

o   4:30pm – 6:00pm

o   Spark! Discovery Preschool

·      Oct. 31^st: Halloween

o   No costumes at school

Community Resources:  We have information to connect families with local agencies regarding mental health, child nutrition, physical fitness, food bank, child find, medical and dental resources, in several locations:

1) In a notebook in the front office,

2) In our parent flyer stand at the front entrance

3) On our school website at http://sdpk.svvsd.org/community-resources.

4) The black table at the front of the school also has activity packets for parents to take in English and Spanish (when possible)
