January’s Learning
We shifted our focus in math from numbers 0-5 to 6-10. We have been learning about the letters P, B, R, K and A. We wrapped up our Transportation/ Roads unit. We worked on retelling the story Bear Wants More. Students did a wonderful job signing/saying the words as they retold the story.
Makerspace Students are loving their time exploring in the makerspace. This month we are schedule to explore on Monday, February 12th.
No School Monday, February 19th
Curriculum Focus
Our STEM unit this month is Robotics. We will focus the first three weeks on the Five Senses and on robotics the last two weeks. We will experiment with the Beebot and how to program a robot. Our letters of focus will be A, V, M and N. Our Big Idea of Math this month is Measurement. For length we will focus on ‘which one is bigger/smaller?’ and for capacity ‘which one has more?’ When we are reading books we are focusing on print concepts including: where the words are on the page, words can be read, and picture to word connection. You can reinforce this skill by reading the letter of the week book thatis sent home weekly.
