Dear Family Members:

 

The school year is off to a wonderful start! For the past 2 weeks, we have been learning our classroom rules and routines and how to be kind friends. STARpower is a reward recognition we give students for following our school rules Stay Safe, use Teamwork, Act Responsibly, and Respect ourselves and others (STAR). I will collect cards until the end of the month and send them home, because in future months we will have the opportunity to earn classroom rewards like dance parties and parachute time. Your child might come home with stickers though to get the recognition in the moment. Praise your children for following the rules when they tell you about Starpower and bring home their cards.

 

Next week (beginning of September) we will begin our first STEM unit where we will be studying Health and Wellness. The first week we will focus on body parts and the second week we will discuss how to keep our bodies healthy. The design process will come into play the last two weeks of our 5 week study, so I will explain more in the next newsletter. 

 

I have almost everyone’s family photo hanging in the classroom, but please get me one if you did not give me one or take a picture together at orientation. We also have most of our student books back and you guys made beautiful stories! Your children are loving reading their books throughout the day and sharing them with the group at circle. If you need any help to print photos or anything, please email me and I will get them back to you. 

 

It’s been fabulous getting to know you and your children these past few weeks and I know it will be a great year!
