Hello Preschool Families!!   

We hope that you enjoyed your long weekend. We had a great week.

This week:

·      We started our new unit on Simple Machines. We talked about the Six Machines: Pulleys, Levers, Inclined Planes, Wheel and Axles, Screws, and Wedges. We also talked about what is work?

·      We did a review of the colors, White and Gray. We looked for the Gray and White in our classroom and outside.

·      Talked about the number eight. How do we write 8? Can we find 8 objects?  Is there a poem to remember how to write the number 8?

·      We talked about the shape Oval. How do we draw an oval? How many sides and points does an oval have? We looked for things that were of an oval in our classroom, gym and outside.

·        We worked on the Letters, Tt, Ii, Uu and Cc. We practiced writing them, building them with wood and creating them with play dough. We also talked about different words that start with those letters.

Next Week:

• Feb 28^th – Mar 1^st: Spring Class Picture Days

Please remember that the weather is changing for the colder side to make sure that your child is properly dressed for being outside and that all items are labeled with their name. Please also check the spare clothes in your child’s backpack to make sure that they are for the right weather. Your child will need to have winter boots to be able to play on the playground if there is snow. We will be going outside unless it is below 20°F or unsafe weather conditions.

School News:

ANNOUNCING A SCHOOL-WIDE ATTENDANCE REWARD!

The second trimester for the school year is from Nov 10, 2016 – Feb 24, 2017. If our school meets the goal of 96% attendance rate during the second trimester, we will schedule an early evening Magic Show, with Lee Curtis, Magical Wizard in early March in the evening for families to attend for free! Help us meet our school-wide goal. Date: TBD based on successful completion of our goal.

School Fundraisers:

Shoe Drive, Sponsored by PTO!!!   Do you have any outgrown, old, no longer worn shoes? Bring them to Spark! Discovery Preschool. We are working with a company called Funds2.org who helps get the shoes we collect to developing countries. We are collecting: tennis shoes/sneakers, heels, boots, sandals, flats, dress, infant, dance shoes—all sizes, all styles!  We will start collecting on Oct 28th! Bring your shoes to Trick -or-treat street at the school!!! The shoe drive runs until January 31, 2017.
