Dear Parents, We are now one month into the school year and Miss Sarah and I have enjoyed getting to know both you and your children! We are now on our first STEM unit which is Health and Exercise. This past week we have focused on Doctors and dental care. Next week we will be focusing on Healthy eating habits. This past week we have been both to the Library and Makerspace, except for Tuesday /Thursday class because time is so limited. We have started our zoo-phonics and are working on the letters F,E,H. Next week we will be working on the letters T and I. Thank-you for completing the handwriting homework with your child . You do not need to send it back to school. Miner’s Day Information:
We have American flags for people to use and wave. We will also decorate a truck and trailer in patriotic cuteness. Thank you Jordan family! Some children, but not all children, will be able ride on the trailer due to space. Those not able to ride on the float can walk the route, alongside the float. If you need to bring a wagon / stroller to pull or push children along the parade route, that would be great too. We’ll dress up the wagon or stroller with some red/white/blue before taking off in the parade.
Parents and staff will need to park where they can at around 9:30am, and then locate the Spark team at the parade staging area on Tipple Parkway, near Aspen Drive in Frederick. The parade will begin promptly at 10 a.m. The parade will start on Tipple Pkwy and go south along Walnut Street before going west down 5th Street and ending at Crist Park! We will take the float back to the staging area near Tipple Pkwy and Aspen Dr. afterward. After the parade there is a festival at Crist Park on 5th Street. Reminder: animals are not allowed to tag-along.
In order to prepare, we are in need of volunteers. On Saturday, Sept 16, from 8:30 – 9:30 am, we’ll need volunteers to decorate the trailer for the parade along the staging area on Tipple Parkway, near Aspen Drive in Frederick
If your family chooses to participate either by walking, wagon ride, or float riding, we will need to have a family waiver signed by the morning of the parade. Also, all children must be accompanied by an adult family member / guardian for the whole time they are participating in the parade. Please sign and return the participation waiver, either by dropping it off in the office, giving it to your child’s teacher, or bringing this to the parade the morning of. We’ll have extra copies too.
Join us for an awesome experience for our preschoolers and spend some time together outside of school. We appreciate your support and look forward to Miner’s Day 2017
