I hope you all stayed warm during the big snow this past weekend and maybe even had a chance to play. On days when the weather is below 20 degrees, families are welcome to come to the front door to check in instead of waiting outside.
Our room added a number of new activities over the weekend and the students were buzzing about all the changes today. We have moved into the part of the unit where we talk about who builds, what tools they use, and what materials. We have toy tools here that they students may use and will get to handle real tools under close supervision. You can enhance your child’s learning by letting them help you with a building project or even just exploring any tools you have together. We have also been talking about the importance of having a blueprint to make sure your building is made correctly so don’t be surprised if your child starts drawing housing plans. Next week we’ll be reading several versions of the 3 Little Pigs and finish up our unit the week before spring break by trying to help the pigs build a wolf-proof home. Beware – the wolf will be making a visit to try to blow the houses down! Over the next 3 weeks our classes will also be studying: 3/4 3/11 3/18MWF and PM Classes Letters: Bb, Dd, Pp, Jj Rr, Kk, Aa, Vv Mm, Nn, Ww Sight Word: and to go Number 20 1 & 2 3 & 4 Shape (month-long) rhombusTues-Thurs Class Letters Aa Vv Mm Color Black & White Green Grey Number 10 1 2 Shape (month-long) rhombus In other school happenings, please take part in our Butter Braid fundraiser. We will also be having both a PTO pajama day and a PBIS reward day the final week before spring break. I will send out more information as we get closer. Spring Break is just around the corner, from March 25-March 29. Classes will resume at their normal times on Monday, April 1st. (No joking!) As always, thank you for sharing your children with us! Sincerely, Ms. Kiersten
