- Paige Gordon is the Principal at Spark! Discovery Preschool, since it opened in 2013. Paige, a graduate of St. Vrain Schools, has 32 years of experience in education. For over 10 years, Paige has worked collaboratively with the community, staff members, and students to create our district's first STEM-based preschool, Spark! Discovery Preschool. Previous to Spark! Discovery Preschool, she served as principal of Alpine Elementary International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, St. Vrain School District’s first elementary IB program. Additionally, she has 16 years of teaching experience in Colorado and Texas, in urban and suburban areas, in a variety of focus-schools. She has opened five new schools as a teacher and principal. Prior to opening Spark! Discovery Preschool, she helped author St. Vrain's successful Federal Race-to-the-Top STEM grant for the Skyline High School feeder system in her role as the first St. Vrain STEM Coordinator. She created and directed, along with many St. Vrain educators, Innovation Academy for a Smarter Planet, a STEM partnership between IBM--Boulder, Skyline High School STEM Academy, CU Teach, and St. Vrain Valley Schools. This program incorporates human-centered Design Thinking Process from the d.school at Stanford University and inquiry-based learning experiences for SVVSD students and staff. The program was recognized by Cecilia Munoz--Director of the Domestic Policy Council with the White House, Jared Polis—US Representative for Colorado’s 2nd Congressional District, Dr. Rick McMasters—STEM advocate and Project Management Thought Leader with IBM University Programs Worldwide, and Brandon Shaffer-- former President of the Colorado State Senate representing Senate District 17. Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and dogs. She also enjoys DIY projects, reading, gardening, and traveling.
