Hello Families! Themes:  We are off to a great start of the school year! The children are getting used to the schedule and routines, and seem to be enjoying Pre-K childcare. Hopefully you are hearing good things at home! We are excited to get to know all the children and their families. In September we are discussing. This is always a fun unit to incorporate STEM. The next two weeks of September we will learn all about fall and migration. The changing of the leaves and weather. We will also look at what is harvested during this time of year, what migration is, and what animals migrate and to where. Academics: The children are learning about the primary colors red, blue and yellow this month. Then secondary colors of purple, orange and green. We will learn how to mix colors and what colors make secondary colors. We have started learning the beginning of the alphabet and are discussing letters Aa- Nn. How to write the letters and the sound of the letters. They are learning about circles, Triangles, Squares, rectangles, star, diamond and oval. Important Information: Spark is an “Allergy Aware” school so we ask that children not bring items that contain nuts in their lunch. An alternative can be sunflower butter.  We do not get the second option for hot lunch. We serve the first option at Spark for Hot lunch.  If your child needs hot lunch please fill out a lunch calendar circling the days you would like them to have hot lunch and return it to us. If it is the morning of please let Ms. Amy or Ms. Tanya know at drop off before 8:30 am. If your child does not come to childcare in the mornings and will be with us at lunch please let us know ahead of time.  Please provide extra clothes in your child’s backpack for accidents that may happen during the day. As the weather changes keep that in mind as well. Please do NOT put spare clothing in Ziploc or grocery bags. We are not allowed to have plastic bags in the backpack.  If your child has an accident we place the dirty clothes in a clear plastic container. Per Licensing we are not allowed to use plastic bags. Please return the container cleaned and if your child used extra clothing that was not theirs, please wash and bring back to us the next day they attend.  Please write your child’s name on the items that are coming to school. (Extra clothes, Lunch box, water bottle, nap time items)  We ask that children not bring toys from home. More often than not your child’s favorite toy, becomes another child’s new toy.  At drop off and pick up always remember to sign your child in and out of the program on the computer with your signature.
