Miners Day Parade – Saturday, Sept 15, 2018

Dear Families:

Come participate in the Miners Day Parade on Saturday, September 15, 2018, with your child! This community event is a terrific tradition and great way for us to pull together to show some school spirit in partnership with our community!   Preschoolers who attend Spark! Discovery Preschool, their families, and staff are invited to join us in dressing up in this year’s theme.

This year’s school theme is going to be Snow White, which we think will be a cute way to incorporate the Miners Day theme. Students can dress up as Sneezy, Sleepy, Happy, Doc, grumpy, Dopey, Doc, or Bashful.

Staff at the school will make some of the following for students to use, unless parents want to make their own:

-white beards out of felt and ribbon

-multi-colored felt hats

-felt black tie on belts with a felt gold buckle

If parents could dress kids in over-sized solid t-shirts, some leggings or jeans.  One trick to covering up tennis shoes is to put paper bags over them.

This year we will walk the route as a school.  If you need to bring a wagon / stroller to pull or push children along the parade route, that is good too. The meeting / staging area, along Aspen Drive will be assigned to us by the Town of Frederick. The parade will start at Tipple Parkway and Walnut St. and head south to 5th Street. The parade will then go west on 5th St. and end at Crist Park.  See map on the opposite side.  Parents and staff will need to park where they can at around 9:30am, and then locate the Spark team at the parade staging area. After the parade there is a festival at Crist Park on 5th Street. As a reminder, animals are not allowed to tag-along.

If your family chooses to participate on September 15th we must have a family waiver signed by the morning of the parade. Below is the waiver/release form for participation. Also, all children must be accompanied by an adult family member / guardian for the whole time they are participating. Please sign and return the participation waiver (these will be sent home in Thursday /Friday folders), either by dropping it off in the office, giving it to your child’s teacher, or bringing this to the parade and giving it to me the morning of the parade.

Join us for an awesome experience for our preschoolers and spend some time together outside of school.  We appreciate your support and look forward to Miner’s Day 2018.
