Dear Preschool Families:

The year has flown by and it is already springtime in the Rockies!  With that comes cool, as well as warm weather.  Enjoy the spring flowers, but please remember to send a jacket with your child in case the temperature dips during the day.  The children are really enjoying the unit on Pets.  Thank you for sending in your pictures of your families and pets.  The children eagerly look at the pictures of their pets posted in the dramatic play area and tell their friends about them!

Important Dates:

·       Apr 11: Dress like a Superhero- no weapons or masks $1 to wear Superhero costume all day, sponsored by PTO

·       Apr 14: Green up / Clean up event from 10 am – 12 pm

·       Apr 19 – 20: PBIS reward – Class Choice

·       Apr 20: School Carnival, 4:00 – 5:00 pm

·       Apr 30:  Wellness Fair, Spark! Discovery Preschool from 6:00 – 7:00 pm

Kindergarten Open House/Information Nights:

·       Apr 19: Centennial Elementary kindergarten information night – 5:30-6:30 pm.

·       May 1:  Prairie Ridge Elementary Open House Tuesday, beginning at 6:00 pm.

Phonological Awareness Literacy Screening (PALS)

Children going to kindergarten next year will participate in the Phonological Awareness Literacy Screening (PALS) assessment window beginning April 9^th through the end of the month.  This is an opportunity for us to determine strengths and needs regarding our children’s kindergarten readiness skills in literacy.  It also helps us monitor our practices so we are providing learning experiences that best prepare our children for kindergarten.

STEM Profile for the Month:  Creative

Next week we will be completing our STEM Unit on Pets.  Our Design Challenge will involve building a carrier for a new pet.   Our next STEM unit will be Robotics.  The children will get to play and learn with the school Bee Bots, which are robots designed to be used with young children.

Timely Attendance: 

Your commitment through regular and timely attendance in preschool will support your child in school and throughout their life.  Please remember that the AM class starts promptly at 8:30 am and 12:25 pm respectively.
